Overview

The primary function of the Intern position is to prepare college juniors and seniors for entry into the business world by providing hands-on experience of IT functions within a financial organization. This experience will include exposure and adherence to IT policies and practical application of IT technologies.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with various IT projects and tasks to gain understanding of how technology is implemented and used within the organization.
  • Assist in a wide variety of team projects, participate in team meetings, and gain experience working in a professional corporate environment.
  • Gain hands on practical experience of the IT Help Desk roles and IT department responsibilities, providing tier two technical support to deliver appropriate issue resolution.
  • Learn and develop the essential IT skills around trouble shooting and proper communication to provide daily issue resolution as reported by end users.
  • Assist in team projects and assigned tasks including critical daily process validations, audit reviews and researching system issues.
  • Participate in testing system updates and bug fixes. Identify defects / bugs, document testing result, and communicate findings to manager.
  • As assigned, work on auditing various systems and user configurations. Document and communicate audit results with manager and work with proper team to correct any findings.
  • Perform special projects as determined by the information technology staff.
  • Gain and refine interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with co- workers, department heads, and various levels of management.
  • Develop and refine planning, organizational, and time management skills.
  • Gain hands on experience working in a team-based environment.
  • Participate in weekly meetings with the IT team to discuss projects and issues to be resolved.
  • Gain experience working under general supervision.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Attending accredited college or university working towards an IT degree. Energetic, organized and passionate about technology with the desire to build a career in IT. Highly developed interpersonal skills and the ability to work well in a team-based environment. Ability to dedicate 15-20 hours per week to this intern program. Ability to maintain the confidentiality of the Credit Union and member records at all times.

High level of professionalism with a demonstrated ability to work well with others. Quick learner, motivated individual with natural analytical, problem solving, and root cause analysis skills. Ability to effectively communicate verbally and with written communication required, including presentation of basic concepts in easily understood ways. Ability to confidently interact at multiple levels in the organization and lead cross-departmental team projects. Attention to detail on many concurrent projects and initiatives. A demonstrated cooperative and positive attitude toward members and other Credit Union staff. Ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be willing to comply with the Bank Secrecy Act and USA Patriot Act as implemented by Idaho Central Credit Union.
